Usage of lead acid battery for UPS
2024-02-26

UPS belongs to the uninterruptible power supply, and the main purpose of UPS lead-acid battery is to serve as a backup power supply, to ensure that in the event of utility power interruption or other power failures, the UPS is able to continue to provide the load with a stable supply of electricity.UPS lead-acid battery in the main purpose of the UPS contains a storage of electrical energy, act as a backup power supply, to protect the supply of uninterruptible power supply, Maintain UPS power output, smooth filtering, act as a buffer to stabilize the voltage and other functions. Therefore, UPS lead-acid battery play an important role in the UPS power supply system in storing electrical energy, securing uninterruptible power supply, stabilizing voltage supply and providing backup power. It provides reliable power security for various critical applications, ensuring the normal operation of equipment and data security.

From the technical principle of lead-acid battery, lead-acid battery is a kind of battery whose electrodes are mainly made of lead and its oxides, and the electrolyte is sulfuric acid solution. It belongs to the secondary battery, and is also a common rechargeable battery and rechargeable battery, which can be repeatedly charged and discharged. Lead-acid battery discharge state, the main component of the positive electrode is lead dioxide, the main component of the negative electrode is lead; charge state, the main component of the positive and negative electrodes are lead sulfate. The nominal voltage of a single cell lead-acid battery is 2.0 V, can be discharged to 1.5 V, can be recharged to 2.4 V. In practice, often six single-cell lead-acid battery are connected in series to form a lead-acid battery with a nominal voltage of 12 V, as well as 24 V, 36 V, 48 V and so on.

UPS lead-acid battery use and role:

1, Storage of electrical energy: The main function of the lead-acid battery is to store electrical energy. In the normal supply of utility power, the battery will be in the rectifier and charging circuit to store electrical energy, ready for possible power failure, it can be said that the lead-acid battery in the UPS system plays the role of storing electrical energy.

2, Secure uninterruptible power supply: When the utility power interruption or other power failures occur, the lead-acid battery will be quickly discharged, and through the inverter of the UPS will be released from the battery DC converted to sinusoidal alternating current (AC) to maintain the power output of the UPS. In this way, it ensures that the load equipment still has access to, and a stable power supply to act as a buffer during power failures, avoiding the risk of equipment interruption and data loss.

3, Stabilized voltage supply: In the normal supply of utility power, lead-acid battery also play a role in stabilizing the voltage supply. It will help the UPS in the case of voltage fluctuations or interference, to provide stable voltage to the load equipment to ensure the normal operation of the equipment, through the UPS inverter will be released by the battery DC power into sinusoidal alternating current, so as to maintain the power supply output of the UPS, to ensure that the load in a certain period of time the normal use of electricity.

4, Provide standby power: Lead-acid battery as a backup power supply for the UPS system can be used to provide power during utility interruptions to ensure that the load equipment will not be stopped due to power interruptions. This is critical for many critical applications such as data centers, medical equipment and communication systems.

Of course, there are a number of other applications for lead-acid battery in UPS systems, such as in the field of solar and wind power generation and storage, and in agriculture. It should be noted that lead-acid battery are a kind of chemical, and their use and disposal need to follow the relevant safety regulations and environmental protection requirements in order to prevent negative impact on the environment. Overall, lead-acid battery play a vital role in UPS systems and are one of the key devices to ensure the stability and reliability of power supply.

From the lead-acid battery itself, because of its strong high-current discharge performance, smooth voltage characteristics, wide temperature range, large capacity of a single cell, high security and abundant raw materials and renewable, low-priced, and a series of advantages, it is widely used in automobiles, motorcycle engines, as well as communication base stations, storage facilities and other equipment. It is widely used in automobile and motorcycle engines, as well as communication base stations, energy storage systems and other fields. Since the invention of lead-acid battery by Plant in 1859, there have been more than 150 years of history, the technology is very mature, is the world's most widely used chemical power. In recent years, although new types of battery such as nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, lithium-ion battery and other batteries have been introduced and applied, lead-acid battery, by virtue of their unique advantages, are still occupying a firm position in the vast majority of traditional fields and some emerging application fields.
